Planet Labs PBC Stock watching
On October 20, 2026, Planet Labs PBC (NYSE: PL) successfully launched its second--generation Pelican--12 Earth observation satellite aboard SpaceX's Bandwagon--5 rideshare mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. Marking Planet's 25th satellite deployed to orbit in 2026 and its fifth Pelican spacecraft launched during the year, Pelican--12 is engineered to capture high--resolution imagery in the 30--centimeter class. The satellite integrates an onboard NVIDIA Jetson edge--computing module for autonomous real--time AI inferencing and features an experimental satellite--to--satellite communications payload developed for SES Space & Defense in support of NASA's Communications Services Project. Planet confirmed that ground controllers established initial contact and have initiated orbital commissioning maneuvers.
