Microsoft and BlackRock, in conjunction with MGX, announced the final closing of the Global AI Infrastructure Investment Partnership (GAIIP) on September 4, 2026. The partnership successfully raised an additional $40 billion in private equity, bringing the total investment capacity to over $130 billion when including debt financing. The capital is earmarked for the construction of next--generation AI data centers and the energy infrastructure required to power them, directly addressing the supply constraints previously highlighted by Microsoft leadership.
