Vertical Aerospace (NYSE: EVTL) has commenced conversion of its full--scale VX4 prototype (airframe G--EVTA) into a hybrid--electric demonstrator at its newly inaugurated Aircraft Assembly Centre at Cotswold Airport. Engineers have begun removing several onboard battery packs to accommodate an integrated secondary fuel system comprising a gas turbine, generator, and fuel tanks. While core engineering continues on the fully electric "Valo" passenger eVTOL, this hybrid variant is intended to evaluate extended--range capabilities for commercial, cargo, and defense applications.
