On August 26, 2026, AeroGlide Materials announced the commercial launch of "OrbitSlick 3000," a specialized low--friction solid lubricant coating designed for satellite deployment mechanisms and space--based robotics. The technology utilizes a multi--layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and carbon nanotube composite to maintain a friction coefficient below 0.03 in high--vacuum and extreme temperature environments. By preventing "cold welding" and reducing the mechanical torque required for solar array deployment, the coating enhances the reliability and operational lifespan of orbital assets. The company is scheduled to present technical performance data at the International Space Symposium on September 15, 2026.
