On August 26, 2026, AeroGlide Materials announced the commercial launch of "OrbitSlick 3000," a specialized low--friction solid lubricant coating designed for satellite deployment mechanisms and space--based robotics. The technology utilizes a multi--layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and carbon nanotube composite to maintain a friction coefficient below 0.03 in high--vacuum and extreme temperature environments. By preventing "cold welding" and reducing the mechanical torque required for solar array deployment, the coating enhances the reliability and operational lifespan of orbital assets.
