Maxeon Solar Technologies (NASDAQ: MAXN) announced on September 15, 2026, the development of its "Maxeon K" cell architecture, which integrates a Kesterite (CZTS) down--shifting layer onto its proprietary Interdigitated Back Contact (IBC) platform. This hybrid design utilizes Kesterite’s high absorption in the ultraviolet spectrum to mitigate thermalization losses, boosting overall panel efficiency to a certified 24.9%. Maxeon intends to utilize its Fab 7 facility for initial production, specifically targeting the premium residential market to offset higher early--stage manufacturing costs.
