On June 4, 2026, researchers at ETH Zurich and SAP Research published a breakthrough study in "Information Systems Research" introducing "Semantic Swarm Intelligence" (SSI) for decentralized knowledge management. This framework utilizes a swarm of lightweight AI agents that navigate an organization's unstructured data to autonomously build and maintain a "Living Taxonomy." Unlike centralized knowledge graphs, SSI allows for real--time, bottom--up categorization of information, ensuring that the organizational knowledge base evolves organically with employee interactions and project shifts. This technology effectively eliminates the "taxonomy bottleneck" that often hinders large--scale AI implementations in complex corporate environments.
