Knowledge graph - Scientific news

On September 25, 2026, the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) officially launched the Open Knowledge Network (NSF OKN), a national open--data platform interconnecting 43 domain--specific knowledge graphs and tens of billions of verified facts spanning manufacturing, healthcare, environmental science, supply chains, and national security.

Developed in collaboration with over 12 federal agencies and 90 cross--sector partners, the OKN provides an open, federated, and auditable knowledge infrastructure designed to serve as a persistent ground--truth layer for artificial intelligence. By integrating structured ontological graphs with Large Language Models (LLMs), the architecture addresses critical enterprise and research bottlenecks—mitigating LLM hallucinations, ensuring data provenance, and facilitating complex multi--hop reasoning across fragmented, cross--domain data silos.
