On October 28, 2026, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) announced that its sulfide--based all--solid--state battery development has progressed to 20 Ah cell trial production, targeting an ultra--high energy density of 500 Wh/kg. Led by Chief Scientist Dr. Wu Kai, the company aims to initiate small--scale trial production in 2027, positioning itself for potential mass--market commercialization around 2030 as global battery manufacturers compete to commercialize next--generation solid--state technologies.
