Low friction coatings tech news

On October 15, 2026, surface protection specialist DÖRKEN announced that its PFAS--free coating system—pairing DÖRKEN BASE 120 with the DELTA--PROTEKT TC 502 GZ (Silver) topcoat—has been approved and integrated into Daimler Truck's updated DBL 3440 engineering specification. Replacing the legacy DBL 9440 standard, the new specification mandates non--fluorinated formulations and introduces expanded assembly and coefficient--of--friction (CoF) qualification protocols to accurately reflect real--world mechanical stresses. The qualified basecoat/topcoat system maintains controlled friction characteristics and corrosion resistance on automotive fasteners and chassis components, providing a compliant pathway ahead of impending statutory PFAS restrictions without degrading joint integrity.
