GCL Technology Holdings Ltd. (HKG: 3800) announced on June 28, 2026, the successful pilot of its "FBR--Kesterite" process, adapting its proprietary Fluidized Bed Reactor (FBR) technology to produce granular CZTS precursors. This breakthrough enables a continuous, high--throughput manufacturing flow that significantly reduces the energy intensity of Kesterite production compared to traditional batch--based sulfurization methods. GCL stated that the granular precursors offer superior stoichiometric homogeneity, resulting in a 1.2% absolute increase in average module efficiency on its 100MW demonstration line. The company plans to scale this technology to 1GW by 2027 to address the growing demand for sustainable, silicon--free photovoltaics.
