Kesterite tech news

LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (SHA: 601012) announced on July 15, 2026, a technical breakthrough in "Kesterite--Passivated" contact solar cells. By utilizing a nanometer--thin Kesterite (CZTS) layer as a passivating contact for crystalline silicon wafers, the company achieved a certified power conversion efficiency of 26.2% on a standard M10 wafer.

Key highlights of the "Hi--MO K" architecture include:

LONGi stated that this development provides a commercially viable path to exceed the efficiency limits of single--junction silicon using earth--abundant, non--toxic materials, bypassing the supply chain constraints associated with silver and indium.
