Low friction coatings tech news
On September 22, 2026, H2Coat Solutions announced the commercial release of "HydroFlow 500," a specialized low--friction, conductive coating for metallic bipolar plates in Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells. The technology utilizes a carbon--nanotube reinforced polymer matrix to reduce interfacial contact resistance and surface friction during stack compression. By maintaining a stable friction coefficient of 0.09 and reducing contact resistance to below 5 mΩ·cm², the coating enhances stack durability and improves overall energy conversion efficiency by 6%. The solution is designed for high--volume roll--to--roll manufacturing processes.
