RKLB news
On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the r/RKLB community is closely following maritime tracking updates confirming that the transport vessel Northstar Challenger has arrived offshore near Chincoteague and Wallops Island, Virginia. The vessel is carrying critical first--flight hardware for the Neutron rocket, specifically the Stage 2 assembly and the Thrust Module, following their transfer from Rocket Lab's Space Structures Complex in Middle River, Maryland.
Community trackers reported that the ship arrived in the area around 5:00 AM local time and slowed into a holding pattern offshore to wait for daylight, tow adjustments, and the morning high tide before navigating into the channel toward Wallops Island's North Dock Landing. Once unloaded at the landing, the flight hardware is scheduled to be moved directly to Launch Complex 3 (LC--3), where Rocket Lab plans to mount the Thrust Module to the launch stand for pad fit--checks, interface verification, and integrated fluid systems testing.
