Enel SpA (BIT: ENEL), through its subsidiary Enel Green Power, announced on May 17, 2026, the successful pilot of its "Tango" bifacial tandem modules featuring a Kesterite (CZTS) top layer at the 3Sun Gigafactory in Catania, Italy. The modules achieved a certified aperture efficiency of 19.8%, marking a significant milestone in the company's "Indium--Free" initiative. By replacing traditional CIGS or Perovskite layers with Kesterite, Enel aims to stabilize its European supply chain against rare--earth and heavy--metal price volatility. Commercial availability for large--scale utility PV plants is projected for the first quarter of 2027.
