On September 28, 2026, industry reports indicated that TSMC raised its year--end 2026 production target for its leading--edge 2nm (N2) process node by 20%, targeting an output of approximately 120,000 wafers per month, up from the prior estimate of 100,000 wafers per month. The upward revision is driven by strong demand across artificial intelligence and high--performance computing applications, with major clients—including Apple, Nvidia, AMD, Qualcomm, and MediaTek—expanding their 2nm order allocations by 10% to 20%. To support this volume ramp, TSMC is activating five 2nm fab facilities across its Hsinchu and Kaohsiung sites. The company anticipates first--year 2nm wafer output will exceed initial 3nm volumes by 45%, projecting a 70% compound annual growth rate for 2nm capacity from 2026 through 2028.
