At the 2026 Powering the Nation Forum, Chief Scientist Wu Kai detailed the company's focus on "breathable batteries" with a theoretical energy density of 12,000 Wh/kg, comparable to gasoline. This initiative aims to leverage lithium metal and atmospheric oxygen to achieve radical improvements in energy density and weight reduction, positioning CATL to lead the next generation of high--performance electric mobility solutions.
