Low friction coatings tech news
On September 5, 2026, WindBlade Solutions announced the commercial rollout of "AeroSlick WT," a high--performance low--friction coating specifically designed for the leading edges of wind turbine blades. The coating utilizes a graphene--infused fluoropolymer matrix that reduces skin friction drag by 9% and incorporates passive ice--phobic properties. By optimizing airflow and preventing ice accumulation, the technology increases annual energy production (AEP) by up to 5.5% in cold--climate wind farms. WindBlade Solutions is scheduled to present the full field--test performance data at the Global Wind Energy Summit in Hamburg on October 12, 2026.
