Low friction coatings tech news
On September 11, 2026, NanoFab Solutions announced the commercial release of "GlideLith 500," a high--performance low--friction coating specifically designed for wafer handling robotics and precision stages within semiconductor fabrication facilities. The coating employs an advanced Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technique to apply a fluorinated diamond--like carbon (F--DLC) surface that maintains a friction coefficient of 0.03 in ultra--high vacuum (UHV) environments. Unlike traditional lubricants, GlideLith 500 is engineered to prevent outgassing and particle shedding, which are critical for maintaining the yield of 2nm and sub--2nm lithography processes. The company will showcase the technology at the Global Semi--Con Expo in Hsinchu, Taiwan, on October 14, 2026.
