MDA Space Ltd. (TSX: MDA) announced it has received a Pre--Authorisation to Proceed (PATP) contract from OHB System AG to deliver advanced lunar landing sensors for the European Space Agency's (ESA) Argonaut spacecraft. Formalized at the Farnborough International Airshow, the agreement tasks MDA Space's UK division with providing two flight units of its LEIA Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) sensor. This technology will provide the spacecraft with autonomous hazard detection and avoidance capabilities for Europe's first independent lunar landing mission, which is designed to transport cargo and scientific instruments to the Moon in coordination with NASA's Artemis program.
