Perpetuus Advanced Materials announced on October 30, 2026, the results of an industrial production assessment for its surface--engineered graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) masterbatch used in truck and bus radial (TBR) tire production.
Key operational and commercial highlights include:
- Process & Energy Efficiencies: Incorporating the GNP masterbatch eliminated two mixing stages, reduced mixing cycle time by approximately 21%, and decreased mixing electricity consumption by 45% (a saving of roughly 165 kWh per metric ton of compound).
- Cost & Throughput Gains: On a benchmark 10,000--ton--per--annum mixing line, direct operational savings are estimated at US$240,000 annually (comprising $165,000 in power, $45,000 in reduced carbon black material loss, and $30,000 in labor). The shortened cycles release capacity to produce an additional 2,000 tons of compound (~40,000 TBR tires), representing up to $8 million in gross manufacturing value.
- Commercial Validation: The masterbatch incorporates 90%–95% of the tire compound formulation by weight, reducing hazardous powder handling and dust extraction overhead. Perpetuus is entering collaborative evaluation programs with international tire producers, including manufacturers in India, to conduct factory--level validation.
