Microsoft and SpaceX announced a strategic expansion of their Azure Space partnership on September 6, 2026. The collaboration will integrate Starlink high--speed, low--latency satellite connectivity directly into Azure Modular Datacenters (MDC), enabling what the company describes as "uninterrupted AI intelligence" in disconnected or disaster--recovery environments. This integration allows for real--time AI processing at the edge without reliance on traditional fiber infrastructure. The first integrated units are scheduled for deployment to government and energy sector clients in November 2026, strengthening Microsoft's competitive position in the sovereign cloud and tactical edge markets.
