On September 9, 2026, Alphabet Inc. announced its largest European infrastructure project to date, committing €13 billion ($15.1 billion) to expand its AI and cloud capabilities in Finland. The two--year investment plan (2027–2028) includes the construction of three new data center facilities in northern Finland and a landmark 22--year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Fortum for nuclear energy.
