Trina Solar Co., Ltd. (SHA: 688599) announced on June 6, 2026, the successful laboratory validation of its "Vertex--K" tandem cell architecture. This design utilizes a Kesterite (CZTS) top cell integrated with a high--efficiency n--type i--TOPCon bottom cell in a four--terminal configuration, achieving a conversion efficiency of 27.1%. By leveraging Kesterite’s tunable bandgap, Trina Solar has optimized the device to capture a broader solar spectrum while avoiding the degradation issues common in perovskite--based tandems. The company plans to transition this technology to its pilot production line in Changzhou by Q4 2026.
