Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMAT) unveiled its "Vesta CZTS" high--throughput deposition system on May 19, 2026. This new equipment platform is specifically designed for the large--scale production of Kesterite solar cells, utilizing a proprietary plasma--enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) process to improve grain growth and reduce defects in the CZTS layer. By lowering the thermal budget of production, the system enables the use of cheaper glass and flexible substrates, potentially reducing manufacturing costs by 20% compared to current CIGS lines.
