On July 25, 2026, the Australian startup Halocell announced it has secured a multi--year contract with Woolworths Group to integrate flexible perovskite indoor light harvesters into electronic shelf labels (ESLs) across 500 retail locations. This implementation marks the first large--scale commercial use of perovskite photovoltaics in the Australian retail sector, aimed at eliminating the use of disposable lithium batteries in IoT devices. The rollout is expected to commence in October 2026.
