On July 15, 2026, Gartner introduced the 'Adaptive Governance Mesh' (AGM), a project management methodology designed to decentralize decision--making in large--scale enterprises and public sector agencies. AGM replaces the traditional, centralized Project Management Office (PMO) with 'Embedded Governance Units' that utilize 'Policy--as--Code' to automate compliance and financial guardrails directly within digital workflows. This approach enables 'Composable Project Execution,' allowing organizations to rapidly reassemble cross--functional teams and reallocate resources based on real--time performance data and shifting market priorities, significantly reducing administrative overhead and increasing strategic agility.
