On July 25, 2026, the California--based startup Tandem PV announced it has been awarded a $12 million public tender by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to develop a mobile perovskite manufacturing unit. This "factory--in--a--box" prototype is designed to be deployed to disaster zones or remote areas to produce flexible solar sheets on--site. The project aims to demonstrate the rapid scalability and portability of perovskite thin--film technology for emergency infrastructure.
