On October 21, 2026, Microsoft announced that Volkswagen Group has equipped more than 330,000 employees across its global organization with Microsoft Copilot. Marking one of the largest corporate generative AI deployments in the automotive sector, the enterprise implementation integrates Copilot with Work IQ and autonomous AI agents into core operations, including engineering, vehicle production, procurement, and sales. In conjunction with the software rollout, Microsoft and Volkswagen Group confirmed an expansion of their strategic partnership to scale Volkswagen's Intelligent Data Foundation using the Microsoft Fabric data analytics platform.
