On July 22, 2026, the Kentucky--based startup Sofab Inks announced the closing of a $6 million seed funding round led by Cloudberry Ventures. The capital is earmarked for the commercial scale--up of its proprietary "Tinfab" metal--oxide nanoparticle technology, which serves as a high--performance electron transport layer (ETL) for perovskite solar cells. Unlike industry--standard fullerene--based layers, Tinfab is designed to enhance mechanical bonding and chemical stability, addressing the critical challenge of perovskite durability. The company reported that its materials have already enabled 22.3% efficiency on 30--centimeter single--junction modules and maintained performance through 1,300 hours of accelerated damp--heat testing.
