On September 28, 2026, South Korean media reported that Rainbow Robotics (KOSDAQ: 277810) has joined a ₩65 billion national R&D project initiated by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). The initiative, titled "Heterogeneous Collaborative Physical AI SDF Specialized Foundation Model R&D," is overseen by Sungkyunkwan University's Industry--Academic Cooperation Foundation with participation from 18 organizations, including Acryl, KAIST, Seoul National University, and Hyundai WIA. As a joint research partner, Rainbow Robotics will integrate its robotic hardware with Acryl's "Jonathan PAI" platform to establish standardized communication interfaces and data pipelines for diverse robot architectures. Scheduled to run through December 2030, the project aims to accelerate the deployment of Vision--Language--Action (VLA) foundation models across domestic smart manufacturing and automation sectors.
