Kesterite tech news

Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ) announced on September 12, 2026, the successful pilot production of its "EP--K" (Earth--Plentiful Kesterite) module series at its Suzhou research hub. The "EP--K" architecture integrates a Kesterite (CZTS) absorber layer with a proprietary silver--free metallization process, aiming to reduce total manufacturing costs by 20% relative to current N--type TOPCon technologies. By eliminating reliance on silver and polysilicon, Canadian Solar seeks to hedge against raw material price volatility and supply chain constraints. The company is scheduled to present comprehensive performance and reliability data for the "EP--K" series at the PV CellTech Conference in Berlin on October 14, 2026.
