On September 19, 2026, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) announced the successful completion of Phase 1 construction at its second European production base in Debrecen, Hungary. The facility has officially commenced pilot production of high--nickel ternary battery cells, marking a significant expansion of the company's localized manufacturing capacity within the European Union. With a total planned investment of 7.34 billion EUR, the site is strategically positioned to supply regional automotive partners, including BMW and Mercedes--Benz, while optimizing logistics and reducing the carbon footprint of the European electric vehicle supply chain.
