Kesterite tech news
Meyer Burger Technology AG (SWX: MBTN) announced on September 18, 2026, the successful integration of its "EcoBuffer K" technology into its high--performance heterojunction (HJT) module production. This Kesterite--based (CZTS) buffer layer replaces traditional cadmium--based components, achieving a 100% heavy--metal--free cell architecture. The "EcoBuffer K" utilizes a vacuum--free ultrasonic spray pyrolysis method, which Meyer Burger claims improves the blue--light response of the cells, resulting in a 1.2% relative gain in energy yield under diffuse light conditions. This innovation directly addresses the upcoming EU Ecodesign requirements for photovoltaics. The company will present the full technical validation and environmental impact report during its Q3 2026 Earnings Call on November 12, 2026.
