AirMembrane Corporation announced on October 30, 2026, that it secured approximately ¥850 million (~$5.4 million) in new financing to advance the commercial scale--up of graphene pellicles for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography systems.
Key strategic and technological highlights include:
- Financing & Syndicate Structure: The investment was led by Global Brain Corporation via its Global Brain Flagship Fund IX, with participation from TAKANAWA GATEWAY Global Co--Benefits Fund, Shinhan--GB FutureFlow Fund, aSTART Co., Ltd., KSP Inc., and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital, alongside debt facilities from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and grant funding under NEDO's Deep--Tech Startups Support Program. Cumulative funding now totals approximately ¥1 billion.
- Technology Validation: Spun out of Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), the company utilizes proprietary continuous graphene synthesis and automated transfer methods to eliminate microscopic defects, creating high--transmittance, thermally stable, and mechanically robust pellicles required for next--generation High--NA EUV chipmaking.
- Commercial Roadmap: Capital will be deployed to expand engineering capabilities and production infrastructure, targeted at initiating pilot production in 2027 ahead of commissioning the world's first volume production line for graphene EUV pellicles in 2028.
