On July 28, 2026, the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy awarded a $30 million public tender to the startup AmazoniaSolar to deploy perovskite--based flexible solar kits to 1,200 remote schools in the Amazon basin. The "Light--to--Learn" initiative utilizes ultra--lightweight, rollable perovskite modules specifically engineered for high--humidity environments and easy transport via small rivercraft. This project marks the first large--scale government procurement of flexible perovskite technology for off--grid social infrastructure in South America.
