On May 21, 2026, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) finalized a supply agreement with Spanish renewable energy firm Grenergy Renovables SA to provide 1.5 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS). The contract involves the deployment of 252 "TENER S" lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery units for two utility--scale projects in Spain: the Oviedo standalone storage facility and the Escuderos hybrid solar--plus--storage plant. This agreement marks a significant expansion of CATL's European BESS market share and continues its strategic partnership with Grenergy following previous collaborations in South America.
