On October 20, 2026, graph intelligence platform provider Neo4j announced the launch of the Neo4j Context Engine, an enterprise context platform designed to establish a shared, reusable knowledge layer for autonomous AI agents and enterprise applications. The solution addresses fundamental organizational knowledge management bottlenecks where critical institutional context—such as cross--departmental definitions of "customer," "account," or "risk"—remains siloed across disconnected databases, SaaS tools, and internal documentation. To eliminate semantic drift, topological blind spots, and agent hallucination, the Context Engine introduces a predefined six--layer business ontology connecting raw data repositories (including Databricks and Snowflake) directly to operational logic. The architecture incorporates Context Build and Runtime for automated graph construction, Context Studio for semantic governance and change management, native GraphRAG deterministic retrievers, and Context Memory for persistent cross--agent recall, effectively decoupling enterprise knowledge governance from individual agent configurations.
