On October 14, 2026, Microsoft announced the launch of the team knowledge base in SharePoint, an AI--curated context layer powered by Copilot and Work IQ designed to modernize enterprise knowledge management for human--agent teams. Rolling out in Frontier preview, the system addresses persistent enterprise knowledge silos by continuously transforming unstructured information—scattered across emails, meeting transcripts, Teams chats, and shared documents—into structured, interlinked Markdown knowledge bases. This architecture establishes a centralized institutional memory that enables both employees and autonomous AI agents to query verified organizational context and execute workflows consistently. As part of the architectural rollout, Microsoft announced a deadline of November 1, 2026, after which legacy preview PowerShell controls governing site--level access for Copilot in SharePoint will no longer be honored, requiring IT leaders to migrate to standard governance and usage--based billing policies.
