On October 30, 2026, MDA Space Ltd. (TSX: MDA, NYSE: MDA) announced it signed an Authorization to Proceed (ATP) agreement valued at more than $100 million with Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales and Leonardo. Under the agreement, MDA Space will supply its MDA AURORA broadband digital phased array direct radiating antennas and digital antenna controllers for 66 "Layer 1" low Earth orbit satellites under the European Union's IRIS² (Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnectivity and Security by Satellite) sovereign secure connectivity program. The subsystems will be manufactured at MDA Space's Montréal facility, with contract bookings slated to enter company backlog in Q4 2026 ahead of satellite launches scheduled for 2029.
