A research team from Shenzhen University and the University of Rennes published a breakthrough in ACS Photonics on July 10, 2026, detailing a "dual--additive strategy" for high--efficiency Kesterite--based tandem solar cells. By utilizing holistic defect passivation, the team successfully integrated wide--bandgap perovskite top cells with Kesterite (CZTSSe) bottom cells in a 4--terminal tandem configuration. The standalone CZTSSe bottom cell achieved a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 10.63%, while the integrated tandem device demonstrated superior stability and performance, marking a significant step toward the commercialization of earth--abundant, non--toxic thin--film tandem technologies.
