On July 22, 2026, India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) approved the continuation of the Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development (RE--RTD) Programme for the 2026–2031 period. The initiative features a total outlay of Rs 4.37 billion ($52 million), with Rs 2 billion specifically allocated for the establishment of a perovskite solar manufacturing pilot line and associated research projects. The program is designed to accelerate indigenous technology development by providing up to 100% financial assistance for government research bodies and up to 70% for private startups and companies to support the commercialization of next--generation clean energy solutions.
