On October 9, 2026, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) entered into a five--year agreement with German energy storage system integrator Intilion to jointly develop up to 3 GWh of sodium--ion battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). Under the partnership, Intilion will integrate CATL's sodium--ion battery solutions into utility--scale as well as commercial and industrial projects, leveraging performance specifications that include more than 15,000 cycles and over 90% capacity retention at low operating temperatures. The agreement marks CATL's third large--scale sodium--ion storage collaboration in Europe, following earlier agreements with Alfen and Solarpro.
