On September 2, 2026, supply--chain analyst Ming--Chi Kuo reported that NVIDIA has revived the Rubin CPX AI accelerator, a specialized processor previously removed from the company's official roadmap. The redesigned chip will reportedly feature 168 GB of HBM4 memory and a 2,300W power envelope, matching the power profile of the standard Rubin GPU. The CPX is optimized to handle compute--bound prefill stages in AI inference and is intended for a 1:1 pairing with Rubin GPUs to improve token economics for data center operators. Mass production is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
