On August 1, 2026, the Japanese Ministry of Finance announced the issuance of a ¥5 trillion ($34 billion) "National Resilience Bond" to fund the large--scale expansion of domestic energy storage and the fortification of critical coastal infrastructure. This fiscal intervention is designed to create a strategic liquidity buffer against the persistent economic shocks and supply chain disruptions caused by the West Asia War. A Ministry spokesperson characterized the bond issuance as "a vital measure to ensure the long--term stability of the national economy and safeguard our industrial core."
