Low friction coatings tech news

On July 4, 2026, PrecisionFlow Systems announced the commercial launch of "Cryo--Slick," a specialized low--friction coating engineered for liquid hydrogen (LH2) valves and pumping infrastructure. The coating utilizes a proprietary metallic glass alloy that maintains a friction coefficient of 0.08 at temperatures reaching --253°C. By mitigating "stick--slip" failures and mechanical seizing in cryogenic conditions, the technology optimizes the reliability of hydrogen refueling stations and heavy--duty fuel cell transport systems.
