On October 1, 2026, healthcare and drug delivery specialist Nipro announced a global collaboration with materials science company Corning Incorporated to integrate Corning's Velocity Vial technology into Nipro's tubular glass packaging portfolio. Engineered for Type I borosilicate glass vials, the proprietary external low--friction coating reduces surface friction during glass--to--glass and glass--to--metal contact on filling lines. This tribological enhancement boosts pharmaceutical fill--and--finish line efficiency by 20% to 50% while mitigating glass breakage, tip--overs, and particulate contamination.
