On July 22, 2026, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) announced a strategic joint venture with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia to construct a 20GWh battery manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City. The plant will primarily produce energy storage systems (ESS) to support the Kingdom's "Vision 2030" renewable energy objectives. This partnership represents CATL's inaugural manufacturing expansion into the Middle East, aimed at localizing the value chain for the region's accelerating energy transition.
