Amazon's Prime Video and the Television Academy announced a landmark six--year exclusive global distribution agreement on October 6, 2026, making Prime Video the exclusive worldwide broadcaster of the Emmy Awards. The contract ends a seven--decade run on traditional broadcast television and terminates the historic "Wheel Deal" rotation among ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC. Beginning with the ceremony in September 2027, the telecast will stream live and free of charge—requiring no Amazon Prime subscription—to audiences in more than 240 countries and territories.
