Amazon Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy revealed that Amazon Web Services (AWS) has virtually sold out its available cloud infrastructure capacity through 2027, with a sizable portion of 2028 capacity already booked due to surging enterprise and generative artificial intelligence demand. Speaking in an interview with Andreessen Horowitz partners Ben Horowitz and Erik Torenberg, Jassy indicated that Amazon is struggling to build out data center capacity fast enough despite an estimated $220 billion capital expenditure program in 2026. Jassy noted that Amazon could deploy substantially more capital into data centers without misallocating resources, given that large capacity commitments are secured years in advance, while standard buffers remain reserved for on--demand workloads such as Amazon EC2 and Amazon Bedrock. The persistent supply constraints underscore robust long--term cloud revenue visibility alongside capital allocation scrutiny ahead of Amazon's third--quarter earnings report on October 29, 2026.
